The following recipe and photography was provided by recipe developer and food photographer, Ashley Durand of Plate & Pen.

Think of the salads you typically see at outdoor BBQs and picnics. If I had to guess, pasta salad, potato salad and green salads are probably first to come to mind.

Each are delicious are in their own way, but they’re not the only salads worthy of your summer menu, especially when you shop at Heinen’s.

To elevate your summer salad repertoire, consider using a protein from the sea! That’s right, with a container of Heinen’s fresh cooked shrimp and a small handful of everyday ingredients, you can create this cold shrimp salad featuring a creamy citrus dressing that rivals any of the seasonal salad classics.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Heinen’s shrimp is cooked fresh in-store. Sourced from trusted partners who practice responsible fishing, Heinen’s shrimp is not only premium in quality but cooked fresh in-store daily by skilled fishmongers. It’s a tradition they’ve been practicing for decades, and you can taste the difference with the sweet flavor and crispy crunch. That’s why it’s a member of Heinen’s exclusive Fan Favorites product collection.
  • It requires no cooking. Using the stove or oven is not ideal when the weather gets warm. Since Heinen’s shrimp is already cooked for you, this recipe requires nothing more than chopping and mixing. In fact, it comes together in about 10 minutes.
  • It’s a great way to take advantage of Heinen’s Midwest grown produce selection. In the summer, Heinen’s Produce Department virtually transforms into a local farmers market with more than 70% of the produce coming from Midwest farms. While the shrimp is certainly the star of this salad, fresh vegetables are the supporting actors that take the flavor, color and texture of the finished dish to the next level.
