Effortless Easter Desserts with Heinen’s Pie Filling
Ingredients
For the Apple Hand Pies
- 1 container Heinen’s apple pie filling
- 1 package pie dough
- 1 Heinen's cage free egg
- 1 tsp. water
For the Blueberry Dump Cake Squares
- 1 container Heinen’s blueberry pie filling
- 1 box white cake mix
- 1 stick Heinen's unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
For the Cherry Kolache
- 1 container Heinen’s cherry pie filling
- 1 box puff pastry, thawed
Instructions
Apple Hand Pies
Makes 12-15 hand pies
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Bake Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
2. Roll out the pie dough and use a circular 1 cup measuring cup to cut out 8-10 circles out of the pie dough.
3. Add 1 Tbsp. Heinen’s apple pie filling to each circle.
4. Beat the egg with 1 tsp. of water. Brush the egg wash around each pie crust circle, then fold over to seal. Crimp the edges with a fork.
5. Brush the top of the pies with egg wash. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
Blueberry Dump Cake Squares
Makes 10 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Bake Time: 40 minutes
Cool Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. Spread the blueberry pie filling on the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the pie filling.
3. Slice the butter in pats and cover the cake mix. Top with 1 ½ cup of fresh blueberries.
4. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool for 15 minutes, then slice into squares and serve.
Cherry Kolache
Makes 18 kolaches
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Bake Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets. Cut each puff pastry into 9 even squares.
3. Spoon 1 Tbsp. of Heinen’s cherry pie filling into each square. Fold the opposite corners and pinch together.
4. Place kolaches on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
