Looking for a refreshing warm weather cocktail to quench your thirst and celebrate summer? Look no further than this Red, White and Blue Sangria that’s as easy to make as it is to drink!

When searching for a wine for this sangria, Heinen’s knowledgeable Wine Consultants can always steer you in the right direction. I love shopping at Heinen’s for both their product selection and helpful associates!

When shopping Heinen’s Wine Department, I always visit their specially curated Pick of the Vine section because each wine is high quality and budget friendly. Since each bottle was under $15, I decided to combine both a red and a white wine to give this cocktail a subtle balance of sweetness and richness.

Red White and Blue Berry Sangria Ingredients

For mixers, you can’t go wrong with Heinen’s lemonade and Red Jacket cold pressed juices. I like to mix the lighter-colored lemonade with the darker black currant Red Jacket juice. It creates the prettiest shade of ruby pink.

This simple and festive cocktail only takes five minutes to assemble in a large pitcher and can be mixed an hour to two in advance! Simply pull it out of the fridge just before serving, add a few scoops of fresh ice and garnish with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries. It doesn’t get any easier!

For the Cocktail

  • 1 cup Heinen’s raspberry lemonade
  • 1 cup Red Jacket black currant cold pressed juice
  • 1 bottle of Von Wilhelm Haus Riesling Spätlese
  • 1 1/2 cups of Masso Antico Primitivo (red wine)
  • Juice of one lime
  • ½ cup blueberries, whole
  • ½ cup raspberries, whole
  • ½ cup blackberries, whole
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • Ice

Additional Utensils

  • Large pitcher
  • Long toothpicks or decorative skewers

  1. In a large pitcher, add the lime juice, lemonade, black currant cold pressed juice and Riesling. Mix well with and add the fruit. Reserve some of the blueberries and raspberries to make garnishing skewers.
  2. Place the sangria in the fridge to chill until it’s time to serve. When you’re ready to serve, add fresh ice and, for added visual effect, slowly pour the red wine down the inside edge of the pitcher. The difference in density will cause of red wine to separate from the juice and white wine, creating a layering of colors.
  3. Add blueberries to toothpicks or decorative skewers with a raspberry topper.
  4. Place the toothpicks in a shallow serving bowl near the sangria.
  5. Add fresh ice to cocktail glasses, pour in desired amount of sangria and top with a fruit skewer.

Heinen's Grocery Store

By Heinen's Grocery Store

In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, aiming to establish himself as the city’s purveyor of quality meats. As customers came into Heinen’s new shop for their meat purchases, they began asking him to carry groceries as well. Joe added homemade peanut butter, pickles and donuts and by 1933, business had grown enough to include a line of produce and canned goods. Heinen’s Grocery Store was born.
