Sausage Gravy Casserole Cups
Cook time: 30 Prep time: 15 Total time: 0min
Servings: 12 muffins
Ingredients
- 1 package Heinen’s country style pork sausage (about 1 lb.)
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ cups Heinen’s whole milk
- ¼ tsp. Heinen’s garlic powder
- ⅛ tsp. Heinen’s cayenne pepper, optional
- Kosher salt and pepper
- ½ cup Heinen’s shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 tube Pillsbury Grands! refrigerated biscuits
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° Spray a 12-count muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray.
- Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, using a wooden spoon to break it into small pieces.
- After the sausage is cooked through, add the flour to the pan and stir well to incorporate.
- Stir in the milk, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Bring to a simmer. Continue to simmer for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the gravy thickens. Stir in ¼ cup of the cheese. Season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside to cool for 10 minutes while you prepare the biscuits.
- Remove 6 biscuits from tube (use the remaining for another purpose). Peel each biscuit in half and press into the bottom of each muffin cup and up the sides.
- Divide the sausage gravy into the prepared muffin cups. Top each with a sprinkle of the remaining cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 14 to 18 minutes, or until the edges of biscuits are golden brown. Allow the muffins to rest in pan for 5 minutes, then gently remove using a spoon or spatula.
