  • Sophie’s Potato and Cheddar Pierogi
  • Brownberry Country White Bread
  • Heinen’s Muenster Cheese
  • Inglehoffer Stone Ground Mustard
  • Cleveland Kraut Classic Caraway


  1. Warm the pierogi in the microwave until heated through.
  2. Preheat a griddle or sauté pan.
  3. Lay two slices of bread down and spread with mustard.
  4. Top the bread with two pierogis, cheese and kraut. Top with another slice of bread.
  5. Add butter to the heated pan. Grill the sandwich lightly by pressing down with a spatula until the bread is grilled on both sides and the cheese is melted.

In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, aiming to establish himself as the city’s purveyor of quality meats. As customers came into Heinen’s new shop for their meat purchases, they began asking him to carry groceries as well. Joe added homemade peanut butter, pickles and donuts and by 1933, business had grown enough to include a line of produce and canned goods. Heinen’s Grocery Store was born.
