What’s For Dinner? Sausage Kale and Tortellini Soup

Ingredients

  • Gilbert's Caprese Chicken Sausage
  • Heinen’s Organic Baby Kale
  • Heinen’s Tri-Color Tortellini
  • Heinen’s Tomato Basil Bisque
  • New York Bakery Italian Herb & Cheese Crisps
  • Demi Baguette

Instructions

  1. Place a pot of water over high heat and bring to a boil. Cook the tortellini, drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a sauté pan over medium-high heat. Cut the sausage into pieces. Add to the pan and brown.
  3. Add a handful of the kale and cook until just wilted. Add the tomato basil bisque and bring to a simmer.
  4. Ladle into a soup bowl and top with the cheese crisps.
  5. Serve with the baguette on the side.

In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, aiming to establish himself as the city’s purveyor of quality meats. As customers came into Heinen’s new shop for their meat purchases, they began asking him to carry groceries as well. Joe added homemade peanut butter, pickles and donuts and by 1933, business had grown enough to include a line of produce and canned goods. Heinen’s Grocery Store was born.
