What’s for Dinner? Stewed Chickpeas and Spinach

Ingredients

  • Heinen’s Stir-Fry Vegetables
  • Melissa’s Chickpeas
  • Saffron Road Tikka Masala Sauce
  • Heinen’s Baby Spinach
  • Seeds of Change Jasmine Rice

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over high heat. When hot, add a small amount of oil and sauté the vegetables.
  2. Once they begin to soften, add the chickpeas, sauce and baby spinach. Cover the pan and let the spinach wilt into the sauce as it comes to a simmer.
  3. Heat the rice according to the directions on the package.
  4. Serve the stewed chickpeas and spinach over rice.
  5. Drizzle with plain yogurt.

In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, aiming to establish himself as the city’s purveyor of quality meats. As customers came into Heinen’s new shop for their meat purchases, they began asking him to carry groceries as well. Joe added homemade peanut butter, pickles and donuts and by 1933, business had grown enough to include a line of produce and canned goods. Heinen’s Grocery Store was born.
