Maple and Walnut-Crusted Salmon

Maple syrup is not just for breakfast! Believe it or not, the sticky-sweet goodness is the perfect compliment to fresh salmon fillets!

Mixed with earthy walnuts and chili powder to create a sweet and spicy crust, this seasonal seafood supper is quick to make, impressive to serve and best enjoyed with rice!

Maple and Walnut-Crusted Salmon

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup walnuts, finely minced
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1 tsp. granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp. granulated onion
  • ¼ cup Heinen's pure organic maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 8 oz. salmon fillets
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Add the walnuts, chili powder, thyme, granulated garlic, granulated onion, syrup, vinegar, soy sauce, salt and pepper to a bowl. Mix until completely combined.  Set aside.
  3. Add the oil to a large frying pan over high heat.
  4. Add the salmon to the pan, skin-side-down, and generously add the maple walnut mixture to the top of each fillet. Cook for a total of 2 minutes.
  5. Transfer the pan to the oven and bake at 425°D for 12-15 minutes.
  6. Serve over rice.
