6 Rosés for Spring & Summer Sipping
The following recommendations are courtesy of Heinen’s Wine Expert, Ed Thompkins.
Rosé has grown in popularity and variety due to its complex flavors from various grapes and has become the go-to wine for people who love a good adventure.
As winemakers experiment with different grape blends, we are witnessing an exciting variety of Rosé wines hitting the market. Our collection of 2022 rosé releases include popular grape varieties and are ideal for outdoor gatherings. In this article, we’ve suggested food pairings for easy summer sipping.
We look forward to introducing you to our picks and offer you a fair warning – if you ask our Wine Consultants for their favorite selection, don’t be surprised if they simply say “yes!”
Mont Gravet Rosé
One of our perennial favorite Rosé values, this crisp and easy-drinking wine from the South of France practically captures the Mediterranean in the glass! Our recommendation for this one is simple: chill, swirl and enjoy! Or, if you’re feeling creative, use this wine to make a Sparkling Rosé Paloma.
- $8.99
- We like it with light pasta dishes that have cream or white sauces like this Creamy Rosé Salmon.
Santa Julia “Seleccion” Malbec Rosé
Yes, a Malbec Rosé! Given that Santa Julia makes one of our go-to traditional Malbecs, this engaging Rosé maintains the same pedigree of Mendoza, Argentina. Tart red fruits in the nose and on the palate lead to an engaging balance of ripeness/acidity that makes this an amazingly versatile wine with many foods.
- $9.99
- We like it with spicy foods or an Asian cold beef salad.
Saint Mont “Rosé d’Enfer”
As unique as it is delicious, this wine hails from beautifully maintained vineyards at the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain. Made from a one-of-a-kind blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tannat and the local native grape Pinenc, this “tres serious” wine delivers complex black currant and raspberry notes that introduce a fresh and juicy finish.
- $10.99
- We like it with Little Giant goat cheese from Cypress Grove Creamery.
Raeburn Rosé
The delightful scents of Sonoma County leap out of the glass with this unique Pinot Noir/Zinfandel blend. Don’t let the light salmon-hued color fool you, this is a mouthful of delicious strawberry and guava-like flavors that are beautifully built on a zesty frame!
- $14.99
- We like it served along side a seafood dish like this Seared Scallops with Avocado Sauce recipe.
Michael David Rosé
We recently discovered this juicy wine from warm and sunny Lodi, California and can’t wait to share it with you! There’s a lot to like in this bottle, including expressive aromas of watermelon and lemon zest, and bright flavors of pink grapefruit and cranberry. This is the kind of Rosé that you dream about drinking in warm weather.
- $16.99
- We like it with spring salads topped with goat cheese or chicken.
Chateau Peyrassol Rosé
This is an essential discovery from the “epicenter of the Rosé Revolution” – the Cotes du Provence. It is as serious and complex as Rosé can be, with abundant raspberry and rose garden aromas and flavors that are too numerous to mention! Made predominantly from the classic Rosé grapes of Provence (Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah), you really need to discover this one for yourself!
- $19.99
- We like it with your favorite kind of seafood on the grill.
